Steve is a former public company executive officer with leadership & broad GM execution experience, a record of delivering results in Operations, Marketing, IT, and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), and adding value enterprise-wide. Overseeing a global business with $1Bn+ in annual global revenues, he led organizations with up to 31,000 people. His expertise in improving financial performance by strengthening the core; leading complex manufacturing, new product development, creation and implementation of best practices, merger integration & functional transformations informs all his work.
Steve currently serves as the Hold Separate Manager, Soft Tissue Core Needle Biopsy, until its divestment from Becton Dickinson (BD), ensuring its continued economic/marketing viability & competitiveness, while working with the European Monitoring Trustee to ensure compliance with the conditional approval.
Earlier, he served as EVP & Chief ISC, acted as COO, was an Executive Officer & member of the BD Mgt Committee. Steve improved financial performance by strengthening the core through continuous improvement projects & integrated CareFusion operations into BD; expanded gross margins by reducing operating expenses; improved G&A performance through strong procurement performance, reduced indirect spending & integrated operations for the C.R. Bard acquisition. He developed capability/people enterprise-wide, fostered innovation and, enabling corporate functions to have a unified voice, improved management’s decision-making regarding functional investments.
Earlier, as SVP, ISC, Steve maintained financial performance, elevated performance enterprise-wide by reorganizing Manufacturing, and strengthened earnings during a period of slowing revenue growth.
Steve joined BD as Director of Mktg & served in various leadership positions.
He has a Master of Mgt (MBA) from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management & an MS and BS in Chemistry from DePaul University, Chicago.
